The report of the arrest was contained in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Irene Ugbo, which she issued and made available to newsmen in Calabar on Tuesday.

Ugbo, who disclosed that the suspects were arrested at various locations in the state, said the command had begun investigations into the matter to determine the culpability of the suspects.

She said Commissioner of Police Gyogon Grimah had directed the prosecution of those involved in the woman’s killing.

DAILY POST recalls that the suspects accused their victim of being responsible for the deaths of some youths in a car crash.

Itagbor, a mother of four, was subsequently beaten and burned alive by youths in Netim, a community in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River.

The police spokesperson reiterated that no stone would be left unturned to ensure that the perpetrators of the dastardly act were brought to book.

According to her: “We stand unwavering in our resolve and unyielding to any obstacle that may hinder the police from unravelling the depth of this matter.”
