Suspected notorious cultists terrorising Emohua Local Government axis of the East-West road have been neutralized by the Rivers State Police Command.

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Polycarp-Emeka, who displayed the bodies of the criminals while briefing newsmen at the command headquarters in Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, said four of them were killed, including a lady on Monday.

Polycarp-Emeka told journalists that the criminals, on sighting the operatives led by Superintendent of Police, Bello Yusuf, opened fire but were subdued by the police.

According to the CP, operatives of the state command got a hint on the whereabouts of the criminals, which led them to Ogoloma community in the Okrika local government area of the state, where they were hiding.

The CP said, “Nwordi and his gangs, on sighting the operatives, opened fire, but were overpowered due to the superior firearms of the police operatives.

“Nwordi and his gang have been on the wanted list of the police.

“He has killed policemen, and innocent citizens, and has been terrorizing the East-West Road, kidnapping and robbing for ransom, and has made the Elibrada indigenous desert their homes.”

The CP also revealed that the command, on the 7th and 10th of June, stormed a kidnappers’ den and rescued nine kidnap victims in a forest, within Evekwu community of Emohua LGA, arrested some suspects, and recovered ammunition from the criminals.

DAILY POST reports that the police recovered four cartridges, forty-five rounds of ammunition, and seven plate numbers of cars.

He pledged that the command under his watch would go after people harboring criminals.

25-year-old Nwordi Onuigwe, a notorious cultist terrorizing Emohua LGA, was declared wanted by the local government chairman of Emohua LGA, Chidi Llyod.

The chairman had put an N1,000,000 bounty on his head but later increased it to N2,000,000.

Onuigwe in return, also declared the council chairman wanted and placed a N10,000,000 naira bounty for anyone who has information about his whereabouts.

The notorious cultist and members of his gang had last week, abducted the Chief Protocol Officer of the former Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Government House, Justice Azunda after shooting him.

This is coming a few days after he killed three people in Rumuakwunde community and shot two other ladies in Ishiodu community, all in Emohua LGA.

In the meantime; members of the Emohua Local Government Vigilante Service have commended the Rivers State Police Command for neutralising Nwodi and members of his gang.

The local security outfit believes his death and that of his gang will reduce insecurity in the area by 40%.
