She was maimed and set ablaze by gangsters, allegedly led by one Christopher Sunday Mbey, a former to ex-state governor, Ben Ayade, over allegations of witchcraft.

The incident happened on Thursday in front of the deceased’s church in the Old Netim Community of Akamkpa Local Government Area of the state.

The state governor, Prince Bassey Otu, ordered the police to fish out those responsible, warning that his government would not tolerate such brigandage and barbarism.

Grimah, in a statement on Saturday afternoon, said, “The issue of jungle justice is one crime that the police force does not take lightly and, as such, we have already commenced a manhunt for those responsible for the dastardly act.

“Those responsible, no matter how highly placed, will be arrested and prosecuted according to the laws of the land.

“We are going to treat them like the criminals that they are, and no stone would be left unturned on this matter.

“They can only run but won’t hide. Enough is enough. Jungle justice is not the solution.”

“We won’t relent until they are in our custody.”
