The Rivers State Police Command has neutralized six suspected notorious criminals terrorising some communities in Emohua local Government axis of the East-West road.

The police also arrested six of the gang members.

The state Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Polycarp-Emeka, who displayed the bodies of the criminals at the command headquarters in Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, said operatives of the command trailed the criminals to their hideout in one Uchechukwu Daniel’s camp, in a forest within Obelle community.

CP Polycarp-Emeka explained that six of the hoodlums died in a crossfire with the Police, while six of them were arrested, and are already helping the Police with useful information.

He revealed that a suspected kidnapper, Buchi David, was arrested in Ozuaha community in Ikwerre LGA and his victims rescued.

According to the CP, some kidnappers were also arrested in their hideout in Woji Junction, GRA Phase 2, Port Harcourt.

“On Friday, June 30, on metro patrol along King Perekule Junction Playhouse, GRA Port Harcourt, following a tip off, my operatives intercepted and rescued victims of a kidnap case reported to the command.

“The victims narrated that one of their friends was kidnapped and taken away by the hoodlums, who were operating in a carton-coloured Lexus RS 350 SUV, after shooting at their vehicle tire.

“On Thursday, July 6th, at about 18:00hrs, acting on credible information, the operatives trailed and tracked down the kidnappers at their hideout along King Perekule Street, GRA Port Harcourt.

“The victims were rescued unhurt in a bush at Ozuaha community in Ikwerre Local Government Area.

“One suspect, Buchi David, 20, a native of Aka community, Oguta LGA of Imo State, was arrested.

“Efforts are being made to arrest other fleeing suspects while investigation is ongoing”, the CP noted.

According to the CP, his men stormed a camp of cultists in Khana LGA, arrested one of the leaders, and recovered arms and other items.

CP Polycarp-Emeka also said they intercepted cultists on Hospital Road, Bonny LGA and recovered some items.

Some of the items recovered by the police in the different locations include; one human skull, two AK-47 riffles, three carved wooden guns, cartridges, three pump action guns, one locally made long-range gun, and one jack knife.
