Police operatives in a fierce gun duel with suspected bandits, foiled a kidnap attempt, rescued victims and recovered motorcycles as well as rustled animals in Katsina State.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The Police Spokesman in the Katsina Command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, said at about 0230 hrs, the Kankara divisional headquarters received a distress call regarding the movement of suspected bandits from Hayin Gada, Malumfashi LGA, where they kidnapped one Hashim Yusuf 65.
Responding swiftly to the intelligence report, around Ruwan Lafiya village, via Kankara Sheme road, Kankara LGA, police operatives found themselves confronted by a group of bandits, heavily armed with dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifle attempting to flee the area with their victim.
“Consequently, a daring gun duel ensued, with the police
exhibiting exemplary courage to secure the safety of the innocent hostage. Eventually, they overwhelmed the bandits and rescued the victim unharmed.
ASP Sadiq disclosed that while scanning the scene, 94 cows, 17 sheep, and two motorcycles were recovered even as police operatives are still combing the nearby bushes for possible bodies of neutralized bandits, informing that the criminals fled the scene with bullet wounds.
Meanwhile, “the Katsina Police Commissioner, CP Aliyu Musa has commended the officers’ effort, commitment, and dedication to duty. He also called on the good people of the state to remain vigilant and report to the nearest police divisional headquarters anyone seen with a bullet wound for further necessary action,” Sadiq said.
