In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu commended Osigwe’s win and conveyed trust in his leadership abilities.

The statement, titled “President Tinubu Congratulates NBA President-elect, Afam Josiah Osigwe,” highlighted Osigwe’s impressive win in the 2024 NBA election.

The election, which was conducted online, commenced at 12:00 am on Saturday and concluded at 11:59 pm the same day.

The final vote count, announced on Sunday afternoon, revealed Osigwe’s commanding lead over his two main competitors.

Emmanuel Osigwe, a former general secretary of the NBA, received more than 20,000 votes in the election. This tally exceeded the votes garnered by Tobenna Erojikwe, Chairman of the NBA-Institute of Continuing Legal Education Governing Council, who received 10,998 votes, and Chukwuka Ikwuazom (SAN), former chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, who obtained 9,018 votes.

In his message, President Tinubu commended the democratic process and the active participation of NBA members.

Tinubu also acknowledged the efforts of the outgoing NBA President, Yakubu Maikyau (SAN), praising his leadership and contributions to Nigeria’s foremost legal association.

Looking forward, President Tinubu assured the new NBA leadership of his administration’s support in addressing the challenges facing the association and the legal profession at large.
