Protest: IGP engages with Femi Falana, Adegboruwa, and representatives of the Take It Back Movement

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun held a virtual meeting on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, with prominent figures Femi Falana (SAN), Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), and other key members of the Take It Back Movement.

According to a statement from the Force Headquarters, the virtual meeting was convened to address concerns related to the planned protests and to uphold constitutional rights while maintaining public order.

The IGP emphasized the NPF’s commitment to facilitating peaceful protests and ensuring the safety of both participants and the general public.

During the discussion, IGP Egbetokun acknowledged the group’s right to organize protests but stressed the importance of planning and coordination to prevent potential security challenges.

He advised the Take It Back Movement to engage with State Police Commissioners to ensure that their demonstrations are conducted safely and orderly.

This coordination is intended to preempt any possible risks and to facilitate a peaceful execution of the planned protests.

The IGP also cautioned against unplanned and spontaneous processions, highlighting the potential dangers they could pose.

He urged the organizers to work closely with the police and other security agencies to mitigate risks and protect the rights and well-being of all involved.
