PSG Make a U-turn Pursuit of Napoli Star Victor Osimhen Amid Transfer Saga

French giants PSG are reportedly back in negotiations for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, just days after Napoli rejected their initial offer, PUNCH Sports Extra reports. Napoli is willing to part with the 25-year-old striker, who has a €130m release clause, a major hurdle in his transfer since the summer window opened.

PSG’s initial €200m offer for Osimhen and Georgia international Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was turned down. However, the Ligue 1 champions are determined to reignite their pursuit of Osimhen, with Chelsea also expressing interest.

According to L’Équipe, PSG will not activate Osimhen’s €130m release clause, viewing it as excessive. Instead, they aim to convince Napoli to lower their asking price. Negotiations for Kvaratskhelia have stalled, but PSG is keen to intensify talks with Napoli over Osimhen, their preferred target for the number nine position.

Before proceeding with Osimhen’s transfer, PSG must sell players to afford his fee. Randal Kolo Muani and Gonçalo Ramos are available for transfer, and PSG is open to offers for both.

PSG’s interest in Osimhen dates back to 2023 when they made two bids exceeding €100 million, both of which were rejected by Napoli. While Napoli expected offers from English clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea, none materialized, leaving PSG in a position to potentially restart negotiations.

Meanwhile, Osimhen has been working separately in Napoli’s pre-season training due to muscle fatigue, as reported by multiple sources in Italy, including Il Corriere dello Sport. He has been training in the gym rather than joining his teammates on the pitch.

Osimhen was signed from Lille in 2020 for approximately €75m and has since become one of the most exciting strikers in world football. In the 2022/23 season, he scored 25 league goals, leading Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years and emerging as the league’s top scorer.

Throughout his time at Napoli, Osimhen has scored 76 goals and provided 18 assists in 133 appearances across all competitions. His impressive performances have earned him the title of African Player of the Year, solidifying his reputation as a top striker.

As PSG resumes its pursuit, the football world watches closely to see if they can secure Osimhen’s signature and bolster their attacking lineup ahead of the new season....CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING.>>
