During his visit, Dalori outlined the administration’s objectives, stating that the investments in the South-East are intended to bridge the healthcare gap in the region. He noted that by upgrading medical facilities and introducing advanced diagnostic equipment, the government aims to provide high-quality healthcare services that would reduce medical tourism and boost the local economy. “The President’s focus on the South-East is to ensure that every region benefits from improved healthcare delivery, which will, in turn, contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the nation,” Dalori said.
Dalori also commended the efforts of the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali-Pate, for his dedication to actualizing the government’s healthcare vision. He particularly lauded the Minister’s role in the establishment of a state-of-the-art radiodiagnostic center at NAUTH. According to Dalori, the radiodiagnostic facility, once completed, will be one of the most advanced in the country, enabling early detection and effective management of various diseases prevalent in the region.
He noted that this would significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide specialized medical services, thereby reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for treatment.
The NAUTH Board Chairman further explained that the ongoing projects are part of a larger plan to create a sustainable healthcare system that caters to the needs of all Nigerians. He disclosed that similar initiatives are being implemented in other parts of the country as part of President Tinubu’s commitment to equitable healthcare distribution.
Dalori emphasized that these projects are not just about infrastructure development but also about empowering healthcare professionals through training and capacity building, ensuring that they can effectively utilize the modern equipment being introduced.
Responding to questions about the choice of the South-East for these significant investments, Dalori stated that it reflects President Tinubu’s strategic vision of fostering national unity through balanced development. He argued that the administration’s focus on the region is aimed at addressing historical disparities and fostering inclusive growth.
This investment is a message to the people of the South-East that they are integral to the nation’s progress. It is a demonstration of the President’s resolve to build a united Nigeria where every region prospers,” Dalori stated.
The announcement of these investments has been met with optimism from stakeholders in the South-East, who believe that the enhanced healthcare infrastructure will lead to better health outcomes and stimulate economic activities.
Local leaders and health professionals have commended the government’s initiative, expressing hope that the new radiodiagnostic center at NAUTH will set a new standard for medical diagnostics in the region. As the projects progress, all eyes are on the impact they will have on the healthcare landscape and the socio-economic development of the South-East.
