Reacting to the development, Igwe and Uka, who are staunch supporters of the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the last general election, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, stated that the resignations would not weaken the party in Ebonyi State.
Igwe and Uka made these remarks in a joint statement issued on Monday. They also criticized Ogba, Makwe, and the six former local government party chairmen for switching their allegiance from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“These people were allegedly working against the party’s interests during the 2023 election, so their resignations did not come as a surprise to the party.
“We are committed to using legal means to reclaim the mandate that was freely given to the party by the Ebonyi electorate, who came out in large numbers to vote for AnyiChuks as their governor.
“So, this issue of resignation and the planned defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is a mere distraction. As a party, we remain focused on reclaiming our mandate, and this is a commitment we owe our people,” they stated.
