The naming of an army barracks after the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu stirred mixed reactions from different quarters after the reports went viral across various media platforms. While many commended the arrangements, others have different opinions.

In light of this, Senator Shehu Sani, a renowned human rights activist in a recent statement which was shared on his official social media handle, X pointed out that naming the monument after the president was unethical.

According to the outspoken activist, though the practice has been the norm for long, the act was unconscionable and also an act of sycophancy.

“Even though it has been the practice for long, naming monuments and institutions after a serving president or governor is unethical, unconscionable and an act of sycophancy.” He said.
