At the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Akpabio warned Nigerians against joining the upcoming protests, alleging that many protesters intend to engage in looting and violence.

Akpabio defended the current administration, arguing that Nigeria’s present challenges cannot be attributed solely to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s one-year tenure. He urged citizens not to protest against Tinubu’s government, implying that the issues facing the country are more deeply rooted.

The Senate President accused recent election losers of orchestrating the protests to undermine the government and destabilize the country, suggesting they are trying to seize power indirectly.

“People are preparing to loot and go round and do all sorts of things. Where we are today was not caused by one year’s administration,” Akpabio stated.

Akpabio supports the right to protest but cautions that it should not justify violence. He criticized the organizers of the nationwide protest as unclear and questioned their true motives.
