The Yobe State Police Command has arrested six suspects in a crackdown on marauders in Damaturu, the state capital.

The spokesperson of the command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, ordered a stakeout to apprehend perpetrators following reports of shoplifting, theft, criminal trespass and burglary on public and private buildings.

On November 10, 2024, at 1400hrs, the police received a distress call from Mal. Musa Alh Audu of Nayi-Nawa ward, Damaturu, stating that six tires and five windshields of tricycles parked in his vicinity had been stolen by suspected marauders at 0540hrs the previous day,” the statement read.

A’ Divisional Police Station swiftly responded, apprehending six syndicate members: Abubakar Ahmed, 19, of Hausary Ward, Hassan Musa, 19, of State Lowcost, Shayibu Adamu, 24, of Tashan Kurma, Ahmes Ismail, 22, of Nayinawa Ward, Babagana Lawan, 25, of Forestry, Bindigari Ward and Gambo Daiyyabu, 52, of Nayinawa Ward, all in Damaturu.

The suspects were found in possession of 13 tricycle tires, 6 windshields, 4 crates of empty Coca-Cola bottles, 2 bicycles and 1 toolbox.

The suspects confessed to the crime and are cooperating with the investigation.

CP Garba Ahmed commended the resilience of Yobe residents in ensuring security and safety.
