This was contained in a statement issued from the office of the State Commander of the corps, Soji Ganzallo, and made available to newsmen by the corps spokesman, Moruf Yusuf.

According to Ganzallo, at about 11 am on June 30, 2023, one Mr Lawal Kazeem had reported that his motorbike, marked JBD 933 VZ, was stolen from his farmland in Abapawa, Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of the state.

Ganzallo noted that on July 19, two middle-aged men, 25-year-old Okoro Ogudu (aka Chi Boy) and Okechukwu Eze, 28, who are both residents of Ibadan, Oyo State, were sighted on the spot where the stolen motorbike was parked on the day it was carted away.

They had returned to the same spot to steal another bike, as that was where workers on the farm usually parked their bikes.

It was said that “one of the suspects brought out a cutlass, and the man who saw them ran for his life. The So-Safe office at Itoro was contacted to save the victim, and the officers swung into action immediately.”

As a result, the Ijebu-Ode Zonal Command team, led by Marcus Ayankoya, responded and arrested the suspects.

During the preliminary investigation, Ganzallo said the “victim was able to recognize the suspects as the same people who ran away from the spot of the theft in the month of June. Also the clothes put on by one of the suspects was kept under the seat of the stolen motorbike.”

He added that two litres of petrol, two cutlasses, mechanical tools of various kinds, one motorbike key, baby and adult clothes were recovered from the suspects.

The suspects and the items recovered had been transferred to the police in Omu for further investigation and likely prosecution.
