According to Premium Times, Afe Babalola’s lawyer stated:
“I formally requested that Farotimi provide evidence to support the claims in his publication. If he fails, he should be prosecuted for criminal defamation in line with Nigeria’s laws, and all defamatory materials should be confiscated until investigations are concluded.”
Reacting to this, Sowore criticized the move, claiming it was an attempt to exploit Farotimi’s situation to bring comfort to Afe Babalola. In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Sowore wrote:
“They want to purchase happiness for Chief Afe Babalola through Dele Farotimi’s misery. It is not happening under our watch!”
