Ewor pointed to high-profile party members, including Chief Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Governor of Rivers State, as individuals who could be targeted for disciplinary action.

The acting chairman’s remarks have raised concerns within the party, particularly about the impact on internal unity.

Addressing the situation, Ewor revealed plans to set up a disciplinary committee tasked with investigating and addressing actions that harmed the party, especially during the 2023 general elections.

He made it clear that the committee would act in accordance with the party’s constitution, and that members found guilty of damaging the party’s reputation could face sanctions ranging from suspension to expulsion.

“The party is supreme, and we shall uphold the supremacy of the party. We will implement the manifesto of the party and its constitution,” Ewor stated.

He underscored the necessity of maintaining discipline within the ranks, stressing that the PDP’s reputation and unity must be safeguarded at all costs.

While the move is seen as an attempt to restore order and enforce discipline, there are growing concerns that targeting prominent figures like Wike could worsen divisions within the party.

Wike, a significant political figure in Rivers State, has previously been associated with various factional struggles within the PDP, and any disciplinary action against him could further polarize the already-fractured party.
