His body was discovered early Tuesday at his home in Bete, Takum Local Government Area.

The sad news has shocked the school community and local residents as many of his colleagues and neighbours are deeply saddened by the incident.
A friend of the late lecturer, who didn’t want to be named, told reporters on Wednesday that they had gone to Bete earlier that day to say their final goodbyes to Philip.
“He took his own life for reasons only he and God truly know. People are saying different things, but the truth may never be known,” the friend said.
He also shared that Philip may have been going through personal struggles in silence.
“Maybe he wanted to talk to a pastor but was afraid it would turn into a lecture or maybe he wanted to confide in a friend but was scared his secret wouldn’t be kept.”
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Taraba State Police, James Lanshen, confirmed the incident,saying that they are still waiting for a full report from the police division in Takum before releasing an official statement.
In the meantime, friends, students, and others have been sharing heartfelt messages about Philip on social media, calling him a peaceful and committed man who takes his job very seriously without complaining.
