In a recent media coverage by Symfoni TV, Senator Oshiomhole was unequivocal in his criticism of the Armed forces expenses: “Our Armed Forces must be made accountable; they must be made accountable because it borders on blackmail.”

We’ve done several supplement appropriation for the Armed Forces, and the revelation on the floor of the Senate is that they are buying the wrong equipment.”
Sen. Oshiomhole revealed that “The Nigerian Army spent about $6M to maintain the Presidential yacht. And I remember President Buhari saying that he never asked them to buy a yacht. Which president will go on a yacht on holiday?”
Expressing broader concerns about national resource allocation, the Senator warned that excessive defense spending could have dire economic consequences. “If all the money in the Nation is being used to defend the country, there will be nothing left for education, healthcare, and investment in the manufacturing sector,” He asserted that such spending could lead to “endemic poverty” and cautioned that “the super highway to criminality is hunger and starvation.”
