“Unfortunately for me, poverty has made me to be part of the political system, from when I left University in 1987, I’ve been part of the process up to today.”
Amaechi also stressed his involvement in the formation of the APC, asserting, “You can’t wish me away in the formation of the APC. You can’t wish me away in how APC won elections.”
He also emphasized the importance of loyalty and dedication in the party, citing how certain political figures stood by the PDP in difficult times.
“If some of us did not stick our necks out, saying ‘PDP, Goodluck, we want to die with you,’ when they saw that we were ready to die, what did they do? They gave up power.”
In response to Amaechi’s comments, Atiku Abubakar defended his own role in Nigerian politics and the broader struggle for democracy.
He emphasized that the political dynamics in the country are shaped by a combination of loyalty, sacrifice, and strategic positioning, and that his contributions to the political process should not be underestimated.
