Tinubu Discusses the Schedule for Announcing the New Minimum Wage

According to Vanguard, President Bola Tinubu announced that the new minimum wage bill will be sent to the National Assembly next week. This decision followed the Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday, July 15.



Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, confirmed the plan, stating that the bill will be transmitted after a key meeting with Organized Labour leaders on Thursday, July 18.

The Tripartite Committee on the new National Minimum Wage presented two figures to President Tinubu: N62,000 proposed by the government and private sector, and N250,000 suggested by Organized Labour. The President aims to harmonize these figures before submitting the bill to the National Assembly.

Minister Idris also mentioned that President Tinubu is preparing a supplementary budget to support the new minimum wage, ensuring its implementation.
