During a press conference at the National Assembly on Tuesday, Senator Kalu praised Tinubu’s political will but stressed that immediate relief is essential to ease the hardship caused by the economic reforms. He urged the president to act swiftly, noting that Nigeria is in a critical situation and that citizens need help as soon as possible.

He has to act today, not tomorrow, because the situation is dire. No president elected by the people would want his citizens to suffer.”
While commending Tinubu’s policies, Kalu also suggested that the president should reconsider the removal of the fuel subsidy, hinting that it may be necessary to bring it back. He acknowledged that he is not part of the president’s economic team but believed that reintroducing the subsidy is a matter worth discussing.
“I’m not in the economic team; I have not seen the president or anyone to ask,” Kalu admitted. “But this is what the president has to sit down to discuss with his economic team.” The decisions he has made are what no president in the 60 years of the republic has been able to take.”
