In an interview with BBC Hausa, Zulum expressed concern that the tax reforms would primarily benefit Lagos State while disadvantaging other regions.

He argued that these areas would face significant challenges under the proposed tax framework, while Lagos would see the only tangible benefits.
The governor urged President Tinubu to reconsider the bills, noting that the northern region, which provided 60% of his votes, should not be disregarded.
He cautioned that the perception that the North does not support the president is misleading and requested that the tax reform proposals be withdrawn to avoid further regional disparity.
