Silva also handed Arsenal three signings to make this summer transfer window while insisting that questions have to be asked over the club’s pursuit of Rice.

Arsenal have already seen two bids for Rice dismissed by West Ham United this summer. The most recent is worth a total of £ 90million.

Speaking about Arsenal’s move for Rice, 24, Silva told Online Casinos, “Normally, you see this sort of price for strikers, not central midfielders. It feels quite high.

“Before [Mikel] Arteta thinks about which players he can bring into his team, he needs to consider if he’s going to lose players.

“However, I am thinking maybe another centre-back to keep them fresh for next season after they lost William Saliba.

“He [Arteta] needs two players like [Kieran] Tierney and [Oleksandr] Zinchenko fighting for the same position so that it raises the standards.”

Arsenal are expected to sign top players this summer transfer window to strengthen their squad after missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City last season.

Rice is keen to leave West Ham this summer transfer window after leading the team to win the UEFA Europa Conference League last season.
