Former Arsenal man, Alan Smith has hit out at Chelsea’s ‘haphazard’ approach in the football transfer market, claiming they only signed winger Mykhailo Mudryk to ‘pinch’ him from London rivals the Gunners.

Chelsea have spent more than £600million on signing players over the past year, but that is yet to result in success on the pitch as they finished in the second half of the Premier League table last season.
“It’s been such a haphazard approach to signing players, it has been really scattergun,” Smith told Gambling Zone.
“I don’t think there was any method to their [Chelsea] business last season. The signing of [Mykhailo] Mudryk is a great example of that. Arsenal were interested, and they thought they’d pinch him off their London rivals.
“Chelsea have collected all these players. With so much movement in and out of the team, I think it is going to be hard for [Mauricio] Pochettino.”
Recall that Chelsea beat Arsenal to sign Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk last January transfer window.
Mudryk failed to score a goal for Chelsea in his first six-month at the club.
