Man United have lost last season’s Golden Glove winner David de Gea after his contract expired with the club a few days ago.
The Red Devils board had hoped De Gea would delay finding a new club until they had greater clarity over their pursuit of Onana, but the Spaniard announced his departure last Saturday.
Man United are yet to finalize Onana’s signing from Inter Milan as the Serie A side want £51million for the keeper.
Asked if it is important to wrap up the deal for Onana quickly, Ten Hag said as quoted by Metro UK, “Of course. Goalkeeper is a key position, but I am happy with the players we have now.”
