Troops Kill 152 Terrorists, Arrest 109, Rescue 91 Hostages

During the past week, the troops eliminated 152 terrorists, arrested 109 individuals, and rescued 91 hostages. This information was shared with reporters on Friday by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations (DMO).

General Buba highlighted that “the armed forces are making steady progress towards the complete eradication of these threats.” He emphasized that the military continually learns and adapts to more effectively address the challenges posed by these terror groups.

He also noted that troops are actively targeting terrorists and restricting their operational freedom.

Additionally, the DMO Director mentioned that surgical operations were conducted against two notable terrorist commanders, destroying their strongholds. These commanders were based in Sadiku Enclave in Tsora Hill, Safana LGA of Katsina State, and Alhaji Yusuf Enclave in Yadi Forest, Giwa LGA of Kaduna State.

General Buba further revealed that the troops had disrupted crude oil theft operations at Bugama, Idama, Cawtorne Channel, and Krakrama in Rivers State. They also arrested two female terrorist collaborators involved in ransom negotiations with victims’ families.

In summary, the week’s operations resulted in the neutralization of 152 terrorists, the arrest of 109 individuals, and the rescue of 91 hostages. In the South South region, the troops prevented oil theft valued at approximately N795,683,395.00. They also recovered 183 weapons and 4,443 rounds of ammunition, including various types of rifles, guns, and ammunition. Additionally, 725,920 litres of stolen crude oil and 475,250 litres of illegally refined AGO were seized.
