The emergence of the group is linked to political instability in Mali and Niger, which has fuelled the spread of extremist elements into Nigeria. This group is a direct fallout of the political instability in these neighbouring countries,” he said.
During his visit to the Masallaci community in Tangaza Local Government Area, Oluyede urged the residents to provide accurate and timely information to support the military’s efforts in fighting insecurity.
I am here to assess my troops. You see, there will always be challenges. The issue is how we react to these challenges. One of the reasons I am here is to charge up my soldiers to rise to the challenge, and that we shall do. My charge to the community people is for them to support us.
If we don’t get their support, we can’t succeed. And if we don’t succeed, that means the country won’t be secured. We need the support of Nigerians so that we can have economic prosperity in the country,” Oluyede stated.
He also noted, “I am here to see my soldiers, to assess their state of readiness and to charge them to continue to do what they have been doing best to secure the country in general.
The acting Chief of Army Staff also paid a visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, and met with other key stakeholders in the state. His engagements emphasized the need for strong local partnerships in the fight against terrorism and other forms of insecurity.
Oluyede further engaged with troops of Operation FASAN YANMA, motivating them in their efforts. This operation, part of the broader security strategy in the region, has seen a focused push to disrupt terrorist activities and safeguard critical infrastructure.
Oluyede visited troops in Illela Local Government Area, where he met with battalion officers and emphasized the importance of collaboration with other security agencies to enhance the fight against terrorism.
He also encouraged officers to remain resolute, despite the challenges posed by the terrain and the evolving nature of the threat from extremist groups.
To combat the terrorist threat, the Nigerian Army has deployed troops from Operation Fasan Yamma to Sokoto and Kebbi States. A source within the 8 Division, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that a signal had been received from the Army headquarters directing the mobilization of troops for clearance operations in the troubled areas.
The increased military presence in these regions reflects a growing concern over the expansion of extremist groups and the need for a more coordinated, robust security response.
In response to the challenges, Oluyede has reiterated the importance of community cooperation, intelligence-sharing, and continued operational readiness to neutralize the threat posed by groups like Lukarawa. With the ongoing efforts, the Nigerian Army aims to restore peace and stability to the region, securing both the local population and national interests.READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>
