“We’ve been in FCT and have never seen anything like this before. Just look at the roads.” – Ben Igweh

Nigerians are becoming more and more excited about the August 1 nationwide protest, yet many are worried about what the movement might become.

Nigerians, belonging to different organisations, have expressed that the demonstration is meant to make the government aware of the economic hardship and hunger that the majority of the country is experiencing.

The FCT Police Commissioner responded to the planned demonstration by stating that, despite their extended stay in the FCT, they had never witnessed the level of infrastructure development currently underway.

The police chief stated in a Tuesday interview with Arise News that significant roads had been built in the FCT and “I started pleading with the youths and the FCT residents that this protest is unnecessary, especially in the FCT,” he stated. Why specifically in FCT?

Is it because of the insecurity that people were discussing that the FCT is no longer the subject of insecurity discussions? It’s the government; this administration has amply demonstrated its differences.

He added: “We have been in FCT, we have not seen things like this before in FCT. You can see the roads, you can see even in the rural areas.”

He declared that he knows everything there is to know about the FCT and that it is no longer the same as it once was.
