Speaking during an interview with TVC News, Shadare emphasized that no pilot or crew would knowingly fly a faulty aircraft. “The aircraft we are talking about, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, is one of the best in the world. These mechanical problems can happen to any aircraft or airline,” he said.

According to Shadare, air returns are normal in aviation and often the safest choice when continuing the trip is risky. He commended the crew for successfully handling the situation and ensuring the safety of everyone on board.
However, Shadare expressed concern about the decision to fly back to Lagos instead of landing in Côte d’Ivoire, where the aircraft was closer. “They were in Côte d’Ivoire’s airspace and could have requested an emergency landing there. But instead, they flew for nearly three hours back to Lagos. This needs to be investigated,” he said.
Shadare believes that while the crew’s actions deserve praise, more clarity is needed about why the plane didn’t land at a closer airport. Such questions, he noted, are important to improve safety in the aviation industry.
