In response, Danlami expressed surprise at MURIC’s claims, stating that as a religious organization, MURIC should adhere to its religious principles rather than engaging in partisan behavior. He accused MURIC of deviating from its original objectives and using religion to advance its own interests.

Danlami dismissed MURIC’s allegations against NNPCL as unfounded. He argued that the pricing of petroleum products, including those from the Dangote refinery, is primarily influenced by global market forces and other factors, rather than the actions of NNPCL alone.

He further explained that the oil and gas sector operates under international standards and that Nigeria’s membership in OPEC necessitates compliance with specific principles.

Danlami highlighted that the cost of refining a litre of petroleum is estimated to exceed N800, while the landing cost is around N1,117. He called on the Dangote refinery to disclose its production costs instead of blaming NNPCL through MURIC.

He said, “We challenge the Dangote refinery to transparently disclose the cost of refining a litre of fuel. This transparency will enable Nigerians to hold the right parties accountable. It is absurd and unacceptable to claim that NNPCL will determine the price of his product as a private entity or become the distributor for any entity in a free market environment. There are three refineries where NNPCL has exclusive power to determine PMS prices: Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries. Dangote is not one of them.”

He also stated that if the Dangote refinery genuinely cared about the welfare of Nigerians, it should price its products more competitively. Danlami emphasized that the Dangote refinery, like other domestic refineries, has the freedom to sell directly to marketers without NNPCL’s involvement.”…..For More READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE ▶▶
