“I have always told people to be patient with this government,” Wike said. “This country has faced significant challenges in the past, and it’s essential to recognise the progress we’ve made. Nigerians often forget where we were and the efforts being put in place to improve our situation.”

Accompanied by former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom and other dignitaries, Wike acknowledged the hardship many Nigerians are currently experiencing but emphasized that such sacrifices are necessary for sustainable development.

“There is no such thing as a miracle solution,” he noted. “The policies Mr. President is enacting are designed to benefit all Nigerians. Although we may have to endure some hardships now, we should not panic. Mr. President genuinely cares for our country, and I assure you that better days are ahead.”

Wike also used the opportunity to console the Makinde family during their time of grief. Extending his heartfelt sympathies, he highlighted the importance of unity and support in moments of loss.

“In this moment of profound loss, we are here to offer our love and solidarity,” he said. “You are not alone in your sorrow, and we stand by you in this difficult period.”

His remarks come as Nigerians grapple with economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies and other policy adjustments aimed at revamping the economy. Wike’s assurance of better days ahead reflects the government’s push to foster public confidence despite current hardships.

Observers believe that such public gestures and transparent communication are essential for maintaining public trust as the administration continues its reform agenda.

Wike’s visit underscores the dual focus of governance—attending to both the economic realities of citizens and their emotional wellbeing during personal tragedies.
