Igwe, in the said statement, announced his resignation from the Labour Party, announcing his intentions to join the All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to Igwe, the resignation came after due consultation with critical stakeholders, political associates, families and supporters.
But in swift reaction, Eze who was declared by the supreme court of Nigeria as the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, LP, at the last general election, said that Prince Aja Nwabueze Igwe was not even a member of the party in the state.
Eze made the claims in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Abakaliki capital of Ebonyi State.
He disowned Nwabueze Igwe and called on the general public and members of the Labour Party in the state to disregard his claims of being a former deputy governorship candidate of the party in the last general election.
Eze said, “Nwabueze who recognized himself as the deputy governorship candidate of Labour Party LP Ebonyi State in the just concluded 2023 Gubernatorial election is nothing but false.
“He was never a member of Labour Party LP Ebonyi State and therefore cannot be my deputy in the election. My deputy was Mr. Sylvester Nwankwo. The general public should disregard such claims of Mr. Igwe A. Nwabueze in its entirety. It’s nothing but false” he stated.
