The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has upgraded its outpost in Damba, Gusau Local Government Area, to a full-fledged divisional office.

While commissioning the new division, the state commandant, Sani Mustapha, thanked the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr Abubakar Ahmed Audi, for the initial approval to upgrade some outposts to divisional offices.

According to Mustapha, given the recent security challenges that have bedevilled the Damba area of Gusau, the state capital, it has become inevitable to upgrade the outpost to a division to enable the corps to stem the tide of insecurity in the state.

He further stated that he was working to establish a robust security network in the Gusau metropolis to forestall insecurity as witnessed in the past.

The NSCDC commandant extolled the doggedness of Damba community and other stakeholders who benevolently donated the office edifice to the corps.

“The Damba Division is expected to cover Saminaka Merere, Lalan, Gidan Kwagira, and other areas within the Damba metro,” he added.

A new Hilux vehicle was assigned to the new division, while its divisional officer, DSC Sanusi Danmani, was issued a redeployment letter during the ceremony.

Meanwhile, the district head of Damba, Alhaji Sambo Ciroma, expressed his happiness at the development and extolled the doggedness of NSCDC in security management and the fight against insecurity in the state.

Alh Sambo assured the corps of his full support for the new division and promised that, in no distant time, the community will provide a more befitting edifice for the Damba division of NSCDC.
