Obi spoke to a group of students who were graduating and emphasised the significance of service and the obligation that young people have to influence the destiny of the country.

He said, “All of this is meant to encourage you to spark the change and offer assistance.” “It’s not about saying, ‘I want to be in charge, I want to do this, or I want to do that.'” He believes that leadership is about making progress rather than seeking power for its own purpose, and his statements emphasised this notion.

Obi responded to the allegations that he was eager to become the president of Nigeria by saying, “When people say I’m desperate, I answer, ‘No, I am not wanting to be Nigeria’s president. I really want to see Nigeria succeed because I believe it can.

This comment was made in response to critiques that said Obi’s desire to become president was not based on a sincere want to make the nation better, but rather on a sense of desperation.

Obi encouraged the young people of Nigeria to take action and play an active part in bringing about the “right leadership” that is essential for the country’s progress.

He stressed that the future of Nigeria depends on the participation of young people who are dedicated to making changes and improvements.

Obi reminded the audience of Robinson’s comment from 2024, in which he said, “Nigeria is a country that knows what to do to prosper but refuses to do it.” Obi cited James Robinson, a well-known economist and Nobel Prize winner, as the source of the statement.

Obi repeated that the country has the ability to prosper, but it need the proper leadership in order to realise that promise.

Obi made a clear comparison in his speech to illustrate the need of having fresh leaders. He compared the situation in Nigeria to a car being driven by people who had already arrived at their destination.

He cautioned that if this kind of leadership were to persist, it would result in a future filled with losses. Obi said, “You can’t allow people who have already reached their destinations or have run out of time to control you.”
