Nigerian troops eliminate top terrorist leaders in a North West operation

A successful military operation neutralised Aminu Kanawa, the second-in-command of the infamous terrorist commander Bello Turji’s gang, according to military officials who verified the news on Wednesday.

Not only did the operation claim the life of Kanawa, but the military high command also revealed that Danbokolo and Bello Turji’s younger brother Dosso, two of Turji’s closest supporters, also died.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj-Gen Edward Buba, made the announcement in a statement. Along with Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, Dan Kane, Basiru Yellow, Kabiru Gebe, Bello Buba, and Dan Inna Kahon-Saniya-Yafi-Bahaushe, General Buba also disclosed that forces had neutralised a plethora of other Turji gang commanders.

Zurmi, Shinkafi, Isa, and Sabon Birni in the states of Zamfara and Sokoto were targeted by these terrorists, who were part of a larger network that carried out kidnappings and attacks across the North West.

Furthermore, troops neutralised over 24 fleeing terrorists from Bello Turji’s camp around Gebe and Isa Local Government Areas of Sokoto State, as well as in Gidan Rijiya in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara state,” Buba told reporters.

The neutralisation of a prominent terrorist named Suleiman—a follower of the late notorious terrorist commander Halilu Sububu—was another important achievement.

According to reports, Suleiman was killed in a fighting around the Fakai high ground while heading a reinforcement party to rescue Turji’s camp.

According to reports, Turji’s terrorist group took a significant hit to its operational capabilities after Kanawa and other high-ranking terrorists were killed.
